SOSA Academy helps bridge the surgical training gap for general dentists through immersive education—featuring live surgeries, guided workflow training, and expert-led discussions. Each course is led by a collaborative team of oral surgeons, prosthodontists, restorative dentists, and lab technicians, combining decades of real-world experience.

This 2-day foundational course focuses on posterior implant placement and gives clinicians practical tools to plan, place, and manage implant cases with greater precision and confidence.

📘 Course Overview

Day 1 – Foundations, Planning & Simulation
Participants will begin with an in-depth review of modern implant technology and its growing role in comprehensive patient care. The course then transitions into core diagnostic and planning principles:

Implant Fundamentals: Importance in patient outcomes, increasing case acceptance, and an intro to the IEXCEL system and Straumann technology.
Preoperative Evaluation & Treatment Planning: Medical/dental history assessment, risk factor analysis, imaging review, and case work-ups—including consent protocols.
Surgical Case Selection: ITI SAC classification, ridge evaluation, augmentation considerations, and guidance on when to refer. Emphasis is placed on prosthetically driven planning.
Guided Surgery Principles: Overview of the guided workflow using Straumann’s digital systems for surgical guide fabrication.
Simulated Surgical Training:
- Flap design and anesthetic technique on printed and animal jaw models
- Implant site prep, torque and depth management, and bone quality assessment
- Use of guide pins, intraoperative imaging, tissue former selection, and suturing techniques
Complications and Management: Strategies to anticipate, prevent, and manage intra- and post-operative complications.
Postoperative Protocols: Patient instructions, pharmacologic considerations, and follow-up care.
Case Discussions: Real case reviews highlighting surgical techniques, decision-making, and outcome analysis.

Day 2 – Live Surgery and Interactive Learning
The second day focuses on instructor-guided live patient surgeries:

Participants will observe the full workflow:
- Initial consultation
- Radiographic interpretation
- Guide design and 3D printing
- Surgical placement
Live interaction and real-time Q&A throughout the procedures provide an immersive, mentorship-based learning experience.
