Prosthodontic Associates Centre for Excellence Dr. Carilynne Yarascavitch, Dr. Alia El-Mowafy, Dr. Asad Siddiqui, Dr. Rachel Tobis Dr. Derek Decloux, Dr. Nicholas Makhoul Simulation-Based Training for Dental Professionals
Course Description
Enhance your airway management skills with this immersive, hands-on course tailored for sedation providers. Plus, conveniently add ACLS recertification—delivered by dental professionals, for dental professionals.
In Ontario, the RCDSO requires dentists who provide sedation to complete CE credits in anesthesia. However, hands-on courses that fulfill this requirement are rarely offered. This program fills that critical gap by delivering a high-fidelity, practical learning experience designed specifically for the dental setting.
The course equips clinicians with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage anesthesia-related complications in an office-based environment.
Training begins with a focused didactic session, covering core principles and the latest evidence-based strategies for managing difficult airways in both pediatric and adult patients. Participants will then move into a high-realism SIM lab, where they’ll handle emergency scenarios using adult and pediatric models, followed by expert-led debriefs. Each case is customized to reflect dental office realities and appropriate sedation levels.
The program concludes with a hands-on surgical airway management session, including key anatomical insights, best practices, and front-of-neck access performed on pig models.
Course Objectives
Develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively manage airway challenges in the dental setting
Gain practical experience handling airway emergencies through simulation-based scenarios using realistic pediatric and adult mannequins
