This course is an amazing introduction into the Kois treatment philosophy. Whether you have been a dentist for 30+ years or are just getting started, there is something to be learned and implemented here. I love that it is all backed by research and scientific evidence. You cannot attend this class without having it change your mindset about how you treat your patients and how to improve your overall care. Wonderful course that leaves you wanting more! Good thing there is an entire curriculum of courses to choose from! A must attend course!

I think opinion is pretty divided over taking this course vs other schools. I think it’s unfair for a review to try and convince you need to attend. That’s your own factors in decision making. But if you do decide to take it, it’s one of the best investments you can make.

This first course is a lot of didactic. But it gets you thinking. Why are you seeing crowns fail? Why are you putting out fires? Is that patient with caries on lower anterior unfortunate or irresponsible? Why do we bother reviewing medical history with patients? You have to be patient because over several courses you start seeing how the humble medical history helps you understand failure in one patient vs success in the other. I’d been in a huge lecture hall with Dr. Kois presenting at the AACD in 2016. Even then (and this was the trend at the course as well), he makes you feel empowered. He’s kind to other practitioners. He personally comes and says hello at the lunch. He invites you to his boat!! He is successful but in his kind, humble way, he is helping other dentists see the way to get there. He shares some recommended non fiction reading. He encourages self care. Because best practices start with you, the practitioner.

    I obviously stan him!

But let’s talk about food- it’s the best part. I’ve paid for quite a few courses and don’t expect much in terms of food but this was by far the best organized and the most generous in terms of snacks (and healthy snacks at that). And he’s not kidding about his chef making food for the visitors. It’s so so simple and good! The hospitality has a certain brand that I think started with Dr. Kois himself but you can feel all his staff on board with his vision. That’s inspiring.

At your individual station, they’ve thought of every single thing you could possibly need ( a space heater!!). They also don’t bug you with incessant calls, emails and pressuring you to sign up for next few courses.

I found the app to be a bit more glitchy on my laptop. It’s best utilized on iPad.

They remind you that you make a sacrifice to be there so they make sure you get what you came for and more 🙂

But like do your research. Obvi.
