Dr. Miguel A Ortiz and Dr. Carlos de Carvalho

Teaching, research and clinical practice are the foundations that support dentistry. It is important to understand that without research and teaching our specialities become a simple pedagogic exercise. We believe that dentistry should be based in scientific evidence. Clinical practice is no longer accepted without it being supported by scientific work that ensures its effectiveness. It is for this reason that old mechanical concepts were surpassed by the “adhesive era”.

The objective of the course is to develop the following abilities in students:

  • To understand that the use of laminate veneers must be interpreted as a complex oral rehabilitation.
  • The development of facial analysis, and customization of the ideal smile by using a sequenced scientifically based approach.
  • To understand the importance of dental photography for the development of a photographic protocol for digital planning in aesthetic dentistry.
  • The development and understanding of the role of mock-up from the wax up to the mouth, guided by the virtual drawing of smile design.
  • The learning and reproducibility of the 3 associated clinical protocols for the personalization of a smile when using veneers.
  • The learning and improvement of the necessary techniques for the implementation of laminate veneers:
    • Minimally invasive preparation and fitness
    • Impression techniques
    • Selection of porcelain and laboratory technique of laminate veneers
    • Substrate color selection
    • Try-in and adjustments for adaptation
    • Core foundations
    • Occlusal schemes

It is rare to go to a Lecture, or workshop, and get so much out of it. If you’re looking for a small group setting of co-minded colleagues to learn both hands and on didactically inspired techniques, I can not recommend this course enough. Feel free to pm if you have questions. Carlos and Miguel- thank you so much for helping to refine techniques such as these. You guys are rockstars

Truly one of the very best dental weekends of my 30 year career. The best of both worlds… literally. From Argentina to Brazil, Miguel Ortiz and Carlos de Carvalho are 2 of the very best dentists/instructors/photographers on the planet. I’ve taught cosmetic dentistry and photography for over 15 years, and practiced for over 30, yet the Monday morning after this class, I changed the way I prep, the way I treatment plan and the way I deliver my dentistry.

What was even more impressive was that they would share a technique, protocol, or new approach to dentistry, and then immediately give you the science articles and literature that it came from. We were given total access to all research that their class was built on.

In addition, the hands-on component was second to none. This course will make you a better dentist and for me, a better instructor as well.
Five stars only because 6 wasn’t an option. Finally, they are just good-people. Extremely knowledgable, yet humble and willing to share everything they could.
Your practice will benefit from this awesome weekend!

I recommend this course to all restorative dentists. Both doctors are amazing clinicians and their approach to dentistry is backed by literature #dentlit. The best thing about the speakers was the ease of which we could approach them. Dr. Carcalho is very humble and taught us a simplified approach to prepping veneers. I was able to apply these principles immediately! Dr. Ortiz is a genius. I am excited to attend their next course to take my practice to a higher level. Keep up the great work.

Very detailed and comprehensive course. Dr. Carvalho and Dr. Ortiz bring value to the class and makes it worth the time taken to travel. Concepts are clear and practical which should be put to use immediately after the class. They talk about things we do everyday but open our eyes on how they should be ideally performed without compromising patient care. They inspire to take our practice to a higher level
