Get ready to experience greater levels of predictability with our new and improved live stream course, Functional Occlusion – An Introduction to Problem Solving.

Since 1979, The Dawson Academy has been setting the bar to help dentists understand this intersection of function and esthetics. The cornerstone of our philosophy is a comprehensive understanding of how the TM joints, muscles, proprioceptive input, lower anterior teeth, upper anterior teeth, lower posterior teeth, and upper posterior teeth are designed to function in harmony with one another.

As Dr. Peter Dawson said, “the latest trends, techniques, and materials without a basic understanding of occlusal principles only allow bad dentistry to be practiced faster.” These principles remain the foundation of Complete Care Dentistry®. True long-term success, otherwise known as predictability, in restorative care is the merger of esthetic, functional, and phonetic parameters. There is nothing more valuable than being in a position to confidently diagnose and treatment plan all the components of the stomatognathic system.

You will recognize untapped reservoirs of work needing to be performed on your existing patients as you learn the signs of occlusal instability that precede symptoms. Examples will be presented for both analog and digital workflows. This course will give you an insight and understanding that will change not only how you practice, but your enjoyment of practice as well.

Join the thousands of practitioners who have learned how to make dentistry fun and rewarding along our proven path to success. Can’t make it live? All registrants get 30-day access to the seminar recordings.

Course Objectives:

  • Identify the 10 factors critical to a stable occlusion resulting in the long-term success of general and cosmetic cases
  • Explain how to identify, prior to treatment, which patients pose a risk of future instability
  • Determine tooth positioning for orthodontics, veneers, crowns, or implant-supported restorations
  • Understand how-to eliminate porcelain chips and breakage
  • Utilize checklists for functional-esthetic analysis and treatment planning
  • Employ diagnostic records for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Define a thorough examination process and how to implement in practice
  • Recognize how occlusion saves time, increases profitability, and reduces stress
  • How-to design a stable, minimal stress occlusion on teeth or implants
  • Summarize why predictable patient outcomes result from a stable occlusion and how to identify, in advance of treatment, which patients present a high risk
  • Plan to choose the best treatment options (reshape, orthodontics, restorative, orthognathic) to solve any occlusal/esthetic problem

Great course. Makes you see things that you would otherwise miss. My dentistry has gotten so much better just after the ‘Functional Occlusion’ course. If it weren’t for finances, I’d be doing the whole curriculum. But yes, I am planning to continue my Dawson journey.

The Good – Dr. Cranham! Great speaker. Great teacher. You learn a lot even if you have been practicing for a long time

The Bad – Unfortunately the only thing I wish were that it was in person. However due to COVID this is a safe alternative. Also, it can make up for a lot of information in one day – however if you sign up, you get access for 30 days so essentially you can do it all over again as many times as you like or in as many parts as you like for 30 days

Overall – great value for the course. Great teacher. Good learning experience
