DentLit Dr. Miguel A Ortiz How would I have wanted to be taught photography? That is the question that I asked myself when putting together this course. Do I want to learn only the trends of the moment or do I want to know how to use photography in every situation I encounter? The answer was simple. I want to learn PHOTOGRAPHY. Everyday photography, portrait photography, kids photography, landscape, still, macro and of course, dental photography. When you come to my course you will find a small group learning environment.
It starts with an introduction to the fundamentals of photography. Aperture, Shutter Speed, Depth of Field, Iso. We will learn their meaning, importance and how to utilize them in your camera and in our photography. We continue with the concepts of White Balance, Exposure Mode, Camera Metering and Exposure Compensation. It is at this point that we usually break into group sessions and hands-on practice. This is the only dental photography course in existence where you will have your own small group of 3-5 students with a dedicated shooting station. A model and make up artist are provided for each small group in most of my courses. I believe in you having plenty of time to practice everything that is learned in this course until you are satisfied. I make sure every person in the group has the time and support needed to understand and implement every concept. We will only move forward once you are comfortable. Nobody is left behind.
Once these concepts have personally been reviewed between you and me, we continue to build on our foundation. We touch on file types, use of histogram, macro photography, light sources and accessories.
With the camera in our hands and all the bases covered it is now time to turn our attention to dentistry. We will immerse ourselves into the full intra and extra oral photographic protocol. Then we will move onto portrait photography, artistic photography and laboratory photography. You and I will have the chance to utilize flashes, light boxes and all the fancy toys that I will have at your disposal. Once you are exhausted of taking photos, and I truly mean it, I won’t leave until you capture every shot you ever wanted. This will conclude a full day of everything I would have liked to learn in one day if I could go back in time
