COURSE DESCRIPTION

Optimal esthetic implant therapy is dependent on surgical results that provide adequate bone for healthy dental implant osseointegration and volume of soft tissue to frame the implant-supported crown restoration. This program will present various approaches and techniques to increase the predictability of dental implant treatment in the esthetic zone. Extraction socket managemen, immediate implants, and regenerative techniques for hard and soft tissue will be presented. Current research will provide evidence for therapeutic approaches, which will be supported by long-term clinical results.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Discuss methods for achieving optimal hard and soft tissue volume during implant treatment in the esthetic zone • Present evidence-based approaches and techniques for increasing the predictability of treatment
• Discuss strategies for optimal immediate implant treatment
• Learn the benefits of using implant provisionals in single and multiple implant cases

• Understand the pros and cons between using cement and screw retained provisionals
• Learn how to fabricate a screw retained implant provisional, including a step by step guide

Dr. Fadi Hasan

Dr. Fadi Hasan is a specialist in the field of Periodontology. He received his bachelors of Dental Surgery from University of Baghdad in 2007 and his DDS from the University of Colorado in Denver in 2011. He completed his Periodontics residency at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with a Masters of Science in Dentistry. He then achieved board certification from the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Hasan has been published in peer-reviewed papers on the field of Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) and in Implant dentistry with regards to Osseodensification. He currently holds a position as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the VCU Dental School, Department of Periodontics and currently maintains a private practice in VA and DC.

Dr. Thanos Ntounis

Dr. Ntounis is a dual specialist in the field of Prosthodontics and Periodontology. He received his DDS from the University of Athens Dental School in Athens, Greece. He went on to complete a Prosthodontics residency and a master’s degree from the same institution. He completed his Periodontics residency in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Hospital. He achieved board certification from the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Ntounis has published over a dozen peer-reviewed papers on the field of implant dentistry and tissue engineering. He has served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Louisville and currently maintains a private practice. His practice “Synergy Periodontics and Dental Implants” is located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he practices with his wife Dr. Lillie Pitman.
