Rating

Pros:
– Dr. Lowe is knowledgeable and approachable.
– You’re able to practice with many different materials and techniques. Some could be helpful, some are gimmicky.
– Tons of free samples of the material…well, not free per se but you get to take some stuff home to try.

Neutral:
– The focus is on basic rather than complex restorative treatment so that should be the expectation you go in with.

Cons:
– Punctuality – the event started 45 mins late every day and the lunches went an extra 20-30 mins. The laid back education style might be appreciated by some people but since many of us are Type-A to a fault, myself included, this was a source of vexation. Endless Rush anecdotes were endearing but also had me watching the clock frequently.
– The event is heavily sponsored. While this is done openly, it makes it difficult to determine which products are being used because of high quality and which are just there as a result of payment. It seems to be a plague of dental education in general but it was pronounced here.

Conclusion:
– Is it worth 1600? I’d say not but if you implement a few of the tips and they change the way you practice then maybe it will be for you.
– It could probably be condensed into 2-2.5 days at most.
